A dry and bright start today, but cloud and outbreaks of light rain will develop by late morning, these then turning persistent and heavy later in the afternoon and into the evening. It will also become very windy, especially for early June, with the southerlies increasing to gale or severe gale force by evening. Gusts are likely of around 60 mph, causing some travel disruption and possibly bringing down some tree branches. Conditions for campers will be particularly unpleasant.

The rain will then clear towards or around dusk, as winds veer to a strong west or southwesterly, with tonight dry and clear with lowest temperature near to 9°C.
