One Less Race For TT 2006
News just coming out that One of the two Supersport races has been dropped and the first Sidecar race has moved from Saturday to Monday.

More as it becomes known.
Standing in the middle of the road is very dangerous; you get knocked down by traffic from both sides.

No surprises really it was obvious that many big teams didn't like having the second 600 race last year.

Most interesting thing was the idea of a new class for 2007 that should spark some interesting debate.

According to last years results there were more finishers in supersport"B" than supersport "A" ???

Race "A" = 70 finishers.

Race "B" = 74 finishers.

So which big team wanted one of the classes axed. ??

Well, I suppose in that case we'll run the second race, but not the first....

The sidecars also run 600 engines and are pulling 2 people are their engines not the same?

Looks like the sidecar lads and lasses will be next to lose a race.

I don't know what stats you are looking at but there were only 58 finishers in last year's second Supersport race, 12 less than in the first race.

I also find it hard to believe that everyone is so negative all the time about the TT. There is nothing in the press release to suggest that the sidecars will lose a race in the future yet you're already making assumptions. I know for a fact that TT2006 will have one of the strongest sidecar line ups it has ever had (arguably its best ever) and there are absolutely no plans to shelve a race in future years. The TT organisers know how important the chairs are and have been working hard with the drivers to make them even stronger - they will always have their two races.

Don't worry about it. We are all on the same side here. Thanks, Phil, I have absolute confidence that Roy will make sure there are always two sidecar races.
Looking forward to seeing you all at TT time

There were twelve less finishers in the second Supersport Race in 2005 and there were a few more starters than in race one as well.

As for the Sidecar classes, not only are there no plans to drop them, they are reciving a lot of focus from myself in particular and others as well, as we try to increase the quality of the entry, something I am sure we are going to achive. There is also goign to be a significant increase in the financial investment into the sidecar class for 2006, so they are not going anywhere.

I would certainly hope to get there - haven't thought about much else apart from the TT lately though to have sorted anything out. For all I know I probably don't even have a better half anymore for all the time I have spent with her lately!

Positives:
More practice
One less silent production bike race
Prospect of another class, let's hope it is for smaller capacity with sound in 2007.

Negatives:
No change on that useless Insurance company inspired TT licence.

On the whole a pretty good outcome. I for one will certainly come if I can arrange it.

Must agree with Paul it is not the number of races or entrants but the quality of the field that is important. After all up to 1922 they only had two races and I think by 1930 they had only 3 races.
If they would only take those bloo*y mufflers off, it is a motorcycle race after all!!!
Rest in Peace Don Simons 1942 - 2012

As long as they don't make the Friday or Saturday conditional on earlier postponements in the week.

The sidecars used to race on saturday and monday but it was decided that the race days were too close together for us sidecar racers to prepare the bikes for the second race. This meant that we had to stay on the island for an extra 2 days.
I said at the time that the only reason we were kept on there for the extra 2 days was because when the sidecars go the paddock is empty and this looks bad. Now the races are moved closer again but we still have to stay for the extra 2 days. It must be for our benefit though because they wouldn't do it otherwise. (WOULD THEY?)

It is a plot, they know that sidecar people like to drink a lot so the Island's revenue will benefit by keeping them there longer.
Rest in Peace Don Simons 1942 - 2012

And I wonder what the sidecar lads/lasses have to say about having only a day to get ready for their second race, what if it's postponed til Tuesday?
AND they spend all night working on their preparation for Wednesday,
what's that do for safety ???
