2002 TT "A SHAMBLES"
I WAS INVOLVED AT THE 2002 TT AND WAS APPLALED AT THE INCONSISTANT AND LAX WAY IN WHICH THE MACHINES ARE CHECKED AND SCRUTINEERED. I AM MYSELF A SCRUTINEER FOR THE MSA WHICH I BELIEVE PROMOTE FAIR PLAY WITHIN MOTORSPORT, WHAT I WHITNESSED OVER THE LAST FORTNIGHT WAS BEYOND BELIEF.
THE ACU TT SCRUTINEERS APPEAR TO HAVE A TOTAL DISREGARD FOR ELIGIBILITY AND WHEN IT COMES TO THE PRODUCTION CLASS,"WHAT A JOKE"!!!!! "RADIO TT TELLS US YOU CAN BUY THE WINNING BIKE FROM ANY DEALER??? "STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX" NO WAY!!!
THERE WAS ALLSORTS IN THE PRODUCTION CLASS, 618CC 750'S AND WHO KNOWS WHAT IN THE 1000 CC CLASS, AS FOR ILLEGAL ACCESSORIES AND BOLT'ONS THERE WERE PLENTY.YOU WOULD HAVE TO BE DEAF AND BLIND NOT TO SEE THEM.

IF THE MACHINES ARE PRESENTED FOR PRE OR POST RACE SCRUTINEERING AND FALL OUTSIDE OF THE PRESCRIBED REGULATIONS THEN THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE RESULTS NO MATTER WHO OWNS OR RIDES THEM. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!! EACH TEAM/RIDER SIGNS A ENTRY REGULATION STAITING THAT THEY TAKE PART ACORDING TO THE RULES, THE SCRUTINEERS HAVE THE OVERALL POWER TO REJECT A NON ELEGIBLE MACHINE WITHOUT ANY INTERVENTION FROM ANY RACE COMMITTEE, THE TT APPEARS TO BE RUN BY PEOPLE WITH OTHER INTERESTS IN MIND!!!!!

ANOTHER THING THAT REALY ANNOYED ME WAS THE PERSISTANT PUSHING IN BY THE TOP TEAMS, V&M ESPECIALLY, WHEN CLUB RIDERS CAN BE BOTHERED TO QUE FOR SCRUTINEERING BEFORE 4 AM, ONLY TO BE PUSHED ASIDE BY THE LIKES OF MOODY, DUFFUS AND CO TO BE FIRST ON THE ROAD "IS NOT ON", WHEN YOU CONSIDDER ON ONE PRACTICE, ONLY THE TOP 10 HAD THE BENIFIT OF A COMPLETLY DRY LAP NO WONDER THEY COME ACROSS AS BEING SO GOOD.

I THINK THE 2002 TT WAS A TOTAL SHAMBLES IN THE WAY IT WAS RUN, PERHAPS I CAN SUM IT UP BY LIKENING IT TO THE PADDOCK TOILETS AND SHOWERS, THERE I REST MY CASE.......

Re: 2002 TT "A SHAMBLES"
It's very sad to read that... very sad indeed. If this is the case, one proposes it must be stopped, no matter whom is doing it, it must be stopped. It's simply cheating. You wouldn't get away with it at a BSB round.

Funny that you mention the 600 production race, click on here, I hope it works, and see what you think.

Re: 2002 TT "A SHAMBLES"
Chris, Who are these professionals you wish for ? Do they exist ? The grass isn't always greener on the other side, the same accusations are made at UK short circuits.
I do agree with your comments about the wasted money on 'socialising'. I have always believed that too much money was spent on this and the importation of officials who are paid and receive free accommodation.
Another issue of money not going to the riders is the payments made to Flag Marshalls (white coats) but not to trackside Marshalls (orange tabards). I do not believe that either should be paid as each is as important as the other and both positions should be voluntary.

Girls? 200 quid? what they like?

Seriously though if some of what you say is true, and I've no reason to disbeleive, then it's quite frankly outrageous.

Although I too thoroughly enjoyed this years TT.

A bog standard bike and a grand eh? Totally stripped to last nut and bolt, with all the machining tolerances tightened up? Zero miles? High tech lubricants and coolants? Two spare engines? Carefully modified suspension, within the rules of course? Factory "road" rubber? 6-8 hours dyno set up time? Any spares with that?

Re: 2002 TT "A SHAMBLES"
Did anyone attend the marshalls supper the amount of food that was left at the end was enormous, also they couldnt give it away as in previous years due to health regulations, just wondered who paid for the food.

Re: 2002 TT "A SHAMBLES"
Even "Bog Standard" proddie bikes have spares. And modified fork internals and Top notch rear shock and race exhaust and re-jetted carbs and race spark plugs and top notch steering damper and, more importantly, totally blueprinted. Any proddie bike with some or all of this would still be inside the rules. The factory prepared bikes would be far superior to "standard" because of their facility for blue printing. And the rider, of course, is likely to be one of the best.

Oh! Did I mention the rider? Did not similar riders finish in the top dozen or so in the other classes? Did not the best rider on the day win? I think he probably did.

I am sure there is some cheating going on but the rules are fairly complicated and there is likely to be some interpretation. On the day, the race was excellent and the guys that finished at the top are the best at it.

Re: 2002 TT "A SHAMBLES"/NOT
Your comments regarding bike legalities will run and run ,unless the organisers get tough on this one we will get know where.
The 2002 TT was a great success , and it was good to be back ,there are a number of issues that would help next year if they care about the riders and scrutineers etc .
Its time the Scrutineering bays had ramps for proper inspections to be carried out ,its not profesional to see these guys crawling around the concrete floors, when they could be inspected at nearer eye level.
One morning this year the lights were not working in the garages , torches were used instead , not good for the worlds media to see .
The Paddock was grim , toilets and the other facilities need upgrading , the other issue is the field in which we are supposed to park in for
competitors , on a number of days it was impossible to use as it became a see of mud only fit for 4 wheeled drives not race transporters ,on the days we used the field the race bike tyres becamed clogged with mud on the way to the scrutineers garages, no facilities for washing down in evidence , this GREAT SPORT of ours can do better than this .
I understand the field has to remain a sports facility , but it is possible to purchase the matting to lay over the top and remove after the event and hopefully bring it out again for the Manx G.P competitors, these measures would cost very little ,but would help the paddock moral a great deal .
We must look after this great event and take it foreward from here .

Re: 2002 TT "A SHAMBLES"/NOT
For as long as people continue to come and race at their own expense, bringing millions into the Island's economy, why should the authorities spend more money than they already do? The riders and local volunteers are the lifeblood of all the events and seem to share in very little of the benefit.

Re: 2002 TT "A SHAMBLES"/NOT
This year should be enough for people to see that not many clubmen are interested, 48 non starters for the senior race and less than 40 finishers, the attraction is dying due to not being able to compete on an even field.

10,000 + visitors down on 2000, Its getting like a practice session for the Manx.

No TT races...!!! perhaps that's what the Manx government want..???

No, visitor figures were UP on 2000, and the highest for 20 years.

Re: 2002 TT "A SHAMBLES"/NOT
Why could you not be bothered?
Did you base your decision on the quality of the entries to the races?
