Do you remember the original TT100? What was it? and why?

A TT 100 was a Dunlop tyre produced and sold to the public in celebration of the first 100mph lap by a production bike.

I had a k 40 now who made them avon?

Those Avon racing tyres were fantastic - on my bantam you could scrub the very last rib, which looked, when the bike was stationary, as if it was right up next to the alloy rim......great in the wet and the dry. Took me (and most others) ages to get used to the Dunlop triangulars!
I shall now wait for some wet-behind-the-ears forum member to ask which were best - slicks, intermediates, cut slicks, full wets, qualifiers, radial/cross-ply hybrids, did you need to adjust the fork damper rebound, the pre-load, the......
Life sure was simpler then - you just got on and raced!

I remember the bantam racing club which I believe is still going, I have never seen so many piles of xxxx in my life. They all wanted throwing into the biggest skip available and crushing, never in my life have I seen so many badly prepared bikes.

Didn't Malcom Uphill win that production TT race hence TT100.

the tyre was originally called the K81 and was renamed the TT100 to commemmorate the first 100 mph lap by Malcolm.

Like it or not it is still the motorcycle paper that is read by many roadracing fans on a weekly basis.

I stopped buying it on principal a good few years ago.

Thats not to say it doesnt make its way into our house !
I just refuse to buy it.

Just hope the centenary TT goes well for all the right reasons, because i have a feeling like a few others i have spoken too, if it doesnt i can see the headlines now.

For all the very positive points that Paul has put over it only takes one accident till sadly we are faced with the screaming headlines again.

Your so right Stella On BBC News 24 they never mentioned Joey`s 24th 25th and 26th TT wins but come Estonia well you know, media Never mention the good only the sad.

Garry whilst it is 21 years since you were British 125 Champion it hasn't taken you long to stir them up again has it :wink:
