Ray Cowles
I have just heard the sad news that Ray Cowles has died this morning. Ray had been ill for some time. I will personally miss him very much, as will my family. He was a dear man, and the Southern100 in particular will never be the same without Raymond and his pipe.
Many riders like Ian Lougher owe their start in the sport to Ray, who was a deeply kind man, and in spite of his deafness, he could always hear a good joke, or a secret!

A sad loss of one of the great characters of the sport. There can hardly be a Welshman of note, past or present, who hasn't been 'touched' by Ray

RIP my condolences to family and friends.

I add my condolences to Ray and family.
Actually raced with Ray in early 60s when if memory serves me right he was riding Arial Arrows and Velocettes.Last spoke with him TTRA 2005 dinner as although he was hard of hearing he could lip read quite well.
Under the chequed flag Ray RIP

Ray Cowles
Another great character leaves us. What a privilege to know this man. And what secrets and magic of tuning must he be taking with him.
When I saw Ray at Oswestry in February at the TT Legends night, I didn't think the great man looked at all well. But this is very sad news indeed, and my sympathies go to his family, and not forgetting Selwyn Griffiths, who was always by Ray's side. There will be many riders who have benefitted from Ray's genius who will mourn his passing.
