I hear that Ducati have made representation to the ACU with regard to running their 750 twins in the 600cc races, as per most other meetings, this would add a bit of sound quality. Mind, we all said the same about two-strokes.
Sad to note the passing of Emily Murray, widow of Charlie Murray who built up Murray's Motorcycle Museum at the Bungalow. For many years in the 70s/80s 'Em' ran the cafe at the back of the building.

For years we have raced motorcycles according to calculated capacity. Why do Ducati want to make their own rules?

Historically the major changes in racing were caused by the Eastern invasion where 350 and indeed 250 machines were proving too good for the established 500 machines and classes were then modified 251 - 350, 351 - 500 to allow owners of the rather less technically advanced machines mostly single cylinders to compete. In previous years to the change-over the owner of a good 350 Norton could compete in both the 350 and 500 class and then the rules were changed as above.

I believe that these changes were introduced for the benefit of the riders, whereas Ducati want the change to suit them, if they want to compete prepare a machine to the class specifications.

750 Ducatis ARE allowed to race in 600 supersport class at world and european level it's only at TT and our own Regal 600 races that exclude them.

I have a feeling that it's Mr Honda who prefered to keep them out in the past.

I can remember someone trying to get 750 Ducati twins included in the Regal 600 here and the idea was rejected out of hand.

Cargo is dead right - and it is typical of the TT to behind the times with everyone else.

748 Ducati's have been allowed to take part in FIM Supersport competition since the bikes were first built, which is some years ago. Current British Supersport Champion Stuart Easton, who won the Championship on a 748 Ducati has in fact also won the Supersport class at Macau today on the same machine.

This idea has been milled around by the TT Organisers for a little while now, and I personally think that they would be mad not to come in line with everyone else, and force a potential British Champion with a factory bike off the grid, for no apparent reason.
