A Safety Officer
Performs a variety of routine and complex administrative, technical, and professional work in analyzing and administering various components of the environmental, health and safety programs.

Coordinates and conducts work area assessment, surveys, and program evaluations to determine the presence of hazardous conditions, such as noise exposure, storage and handling of flammable products.

Analyzes hazardous conditions and compiles Risk Assessment documentation for use by departments to ensure compliance by all persons under their jurisdiction and control.

Prepares and Manages budgetary requirements and expenditures.

Administers and provides technical advice on the medical and security programs as may be regulated by governmental laws.

Using excellent customer skills, establishes and maintains harmonious relationships with other employees, officials, outside organizations, and representatives of both the public and government.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form.

Requires frequent use of motor vehicle, personal computer, including word processing (Word), spreadsheet programs (Excel), DataPipe software, and HTE database; digital camera, calculator, telephone, copy machine and fax machine.

While performing the duties of this job, the Safety Officer is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The Safety Officer is occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

The Safety Officer must have visual acuity sufficient to operate a motor vehicle and digital camera, (not at the same time), as well as other listed equipment.

Must be able to wear respirator when required.

The Safety Officer must occasionally lift and/or move up to ???? pounds !!! (To be negotiated)

Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Safety Officer encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

NOTE: The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderately quiet.
