Robert McGregor McIntyre

1928 - 1962

In 1957 Robert McGregor McIntyre attained the elusive 100 mph lap of the TT Mountain Course on a Gilera 500cc -4.

Only 4 years later, Bob took a Honda 250cc-4 round at 99.58 mph but the engine of his machine cried enough at Quarry Bends on the final lap.

Bob coasted to a stop at the Sulby Glen Hotel and dismounted in front of TTFan Ian Huntly who recorded this event on his camera.

Bob died in 1962, so Ian wishes to commemorate Bobs magnificent lap on his Honda by placing a plaque at the Sulby Glen Hotel and hopes that some other fans may wish to contribute to the cost of a quality, secure blue and white plaque....

Any money left over will be given to a worthy TT-orientated cause, to be decided.

Any amount would be gratefully received and we can assure that those donating will be recognised in print.

Paypal is the method being proposed for receipt of voluntary payments.

Once the On-Line Payment method has been arranged, (hopefully within a day or two), you will be able to come back to this posting and access the Payment Point to make your donation.

Many thanks in advance,

Ian Huntly, TTfan of some 65 Years

Donations are trickling in and I thank those of you who have committed themselves to the idea of placing the plaque and have bought shares.

However I would appreciate a few more people to donate to this commemorative plaque to help out with the costs.

It takes up to five weeks to manufacture so please use our e-bay link to buy one or more shares in this project so we can order the plaque soon.

Thank you.

Another Way:

I normally like Paypal because it is a good way to receive money and be able to supply a receipt.

However if you wish to donate to this worthy exercise by cheque, would you please contact me on private e-mail (PM) with your Tel No. (or e-mail address) and I will be immediately back to you to confirm your contact with me and to tell you where to send your donation of £11.98 per share.

Thanking you in advance... I will still supply a receipt..

Robert MacGregor McIntyre Plaque

Here it is finally, in all its glory for all to pay tribute whenever they visit the Sulby Glen Hotel.

Ian Huntly (TTfan) has asked me to express his sincerest thanks to everyone who has donated to the fund, for the manufacture of this wonderful commemorative plaque, in remembrance of Bob Mac on his near enough 100mph lap on the Honda 240 4 back in 1961.

The official unveiling will take place during the Tuesday or Wednesday of TT Practice week - Watch the Press for details

A wonderful gesture by a real true TTfan - Mr. Ian Huntly
