A verdict of death by misadventure has been returned at the inquest of a TT rider who was killed in a crash during practice week.

Forty-three-year-old Japanese rider Yoshinari Matsushita was involved in an accident at Ballacrye.

It happened at about 7.30pm on Monday last week.

The two-hour inquest took place at Douglas courthouse this afternoon.

It heard evidence from marshals who'd been in the area at the time.

They said after a small jump in the road, which they described as "normal", Mr Matsushita's motorcycle was seen oscillating severely a short distance from Ballaugh.

Despite his attempts to regain control, the bike then hit the kerb before colliding with a road sign and a tree.

It was confirmed Mr Matsushita died instantaneously in the collision.

Returning his verdict, Coroner of Inquests John Needham said Mr Matsushita's death was the tragic consequence of a racing accident.
