Czech fans ‘best in the world’ says Michael Pearson

Lisburn road racer Michael Pearson has hailed motorcycling supporters in the Czech Republic as the ‘best in the world’ as the Team Hotties rider looks ahead to the Horice meeting in May.

Pearson has snubbed the International North West 200 in recent years in preference for the Czech meeting, which again clashes with the annual showpiece on the picturesque north coast.

He has previously stated that he has no desire to compete at the North West after falling out of love with the event.

Instead, Pearson will be aiming for a repeat of his 2013 Superbike triumph at Horice on May 17-18, where he established a new outright lap record on his way to victory over local hero Kamil Holan last year.

The Northern Ireland man powered his BMW S1000RR Superstock machine to the chequered flag despite suffering a fast crash in the earlier Supersport race.

Pearson will ride the Hotties Racing/Northern Escalator Installations Kawasaki ZX-10R and a 600cc Kawasaki this season plus Rod Lee’s Kawasaki ER6 for the Supertwin class.

“I’m delighted to be heading back to Horice in 2014 for what we class as the friendly races,” said Pearson, who made his Horice debut in 2010.

“It’s a brilliant weekend’s racing with the best fans in the world. It’s a world class circuit and very technical at that, but it’s one of those places that just appeals to me year in year out.”
