Government plans have been approved for a 500-seat hospitality facility for VIPs in Noble’s Park, Douglas, to be used for the TT, Festival of Motorcycling and occasional weekend presentations in between.

The Department of Economic Development can erect the marquee no more than 14 days before the TT and must remove it 14 days after the end of the Festival of Motorcycling.

The site must be restored to its former condition within 14 days. This permission relates to 2014 and all future years the events take place.

Between the two events for this year only, the marquee can be operated for up to events each limited to no more than two consecutive days.

The approval does not cover private parties, weddings, christenings or other religious ceremonies, or music events.

Written notice would have to be given to the planning authority.

A statement from horncastle: thomas said the facility would be used for motorsport focused events such as Rally Isle of Man.

The marquee will include a commercial kitchen, coffee and licensed bars, and a full audiovisual system and stage.
