Selfie Sticks
I see that the Southern 100 club has banned selfie sticks from this years as they are dangerous to riders.

I suspect the TT will ban them as well for next year

I hope so, it's only a matter of time 'til a rider hits one, with unthinkable consequences.

RE: Selfie Sticks
Very hard to put into practice on a roads circuit I'd have thought.

I've never used one but I can imagine that they could be dangerous at, for example, Church Bends on the S100 course or on the run from Kate's to the Creg but not be an issue at all at the bottom of Hailwood Rise where the verge beyond the fence is quite deep.

Seen quite a few of these in action this year. They seem to shove them out the hedge and onto the kerbside. From my own experience video i have taken in the past from my go pro dont really turn out that good as the bikes are just too fast so its really pointless

RE: Selfie Sticks
Banning the sticks is a good idea.

The spectators are already close enough to the riders in certain sections like Hillberry.

And this video of Conor Cummins @Tower Bends makes me uncomfortable even without selfie sticks: https://instagram.com/p/34MXuYx0kO/

Are drones banned during racing or on the island?

Surley evidence of why they should be banned, imagine if it made the rider pick up and go off line!

Sorry just noticed you said the vid was without a stick, why was the "taker" alowed to get so close?

RE: Selfie Sticks
They should consider not the wording "Ban on selfie sticks" but "Ban on horizontal use of camera monopods and phone sticks,  this would also prevent DSLR cameras attached to monopods being used in the same way as why selfie sticks are to be banned.

I don't think that part of the course is a restricted area. But it would be a good idea to put the spectators 1 meter further back from the road.
