This is Suter’s new 195bhp, 500cc GP bike you can buy for £100,000.
The Swiss Grand Prix chassis constructor is set to produce 99 of the limited edition machines, which are available for anyone to buy.
Dubbed the ‘Legends 500’, the MMX 500 has been developed by Suter’s racing division using the ‘latest design and manufacturing technologies’ and was inspired by the inaugural World GP Bike Legends event, which put 500cc GP stars such as Kevin Schwantz and Wayne Gardner up against one another on original machinery.
Despite being brand new, the MMX500 is said to retain the ‘tarmac-shredding soul’ of original two-stroke GP machines. The 576cc V4 produces 195bhp while the bike weighs in at just 127kg, meaning the power to weight ratio is remarkably similar to that of an original 500cc Grand Prix bike.
“The Suter MMX 500 is an exclusive racing motorcycle, which is also marked by its strictly limited edition status,” says Suter.
“Developed and produced by our racing division, this technical masterpiece is built for skillful hands and appreciating hearts only.
“Engineered applying the latest design and manufacturing technologies, using high-quality precision parts, we put all our passion into it. Double counter rotating crankshafts and an electronic fuel injection iconify our effort in building it.”
The bike can also be bought with an exclusive race package, including race entries into next year’s World GP Bike Legends events giving you the chance to have a Grand Prix legend like Kevin Schwantz or Freddie Spencer ride your bike, or better still, if you fancy your chances ride against them yourself!
The inaugural World GP Bike Legends took place at Jerez earlier this year and while the event was largely a success, organisers faced a lot of difficulty sourcing both original and replica 500cc GP bikes with owners who were willing to accept the risk of them being raced.
Next year the entire grid will be formed by MMX500s, which are set to be painted in replica liveries to add to the authentic feel.
