More sponsors come on board for Mid-Antrim ‘150’

Robert Kilpatrick, centre, from Logans Hardware, with Davy McCartney and Jack Agnew from the Mid Antrim club announced
that Logans are to sponsor the Lightweight race.

As the build up to the JFM Haulage Mid Antrim 150 steps up a gear the club is pleased to announce a few new race sponsors.

While full details will not be released until the official press launch in a few weeks time, Robert Logan Hardware from Cloughmills has been named as the backer of the Lightweight race.

Robert Kilpatrick, centre, from Logans Hardware, with Davy McCartney and Jack Agnew from the Mid Antrim club announced the Logans are to sponsor the Lightweight race.

Logans are one of the longest serving sponsors of the Mid Antrim, and yet again they have stepped up to the mark to back what is quite often one of the best races of the day.

Another long time sponsor of the meeting is the Clough Glasgow Rangers Supporters Club.

They will underwrite the Supertwins race, while Harleys Bar in Kilkeel are the new sponsors of the Junior Support event.

from the Clough Glasgow Rangers Supporters' Club.

Meanwhile, the club continues to work hard behind the scenes to raise the revenue required to bring the meeting back to the forefront of local road racing, with its new April date in the calendar.

After the success of the previous venture, another Pub Quiz has been organised to help raise much needed funds for the race.

This one will be in the Thatch Inn in Broughshane on Wednesday 27th January.

It’s due to start at 7.30pm. It costs £5 per person, and there will be refreshments and a raffle on the night.

I also understand that the Mid-Antrim 150 will have a prize fund that will compare favourably with other National road races - again, more details will be announced in due course.

*** - ENGINE PROTECTORS - ***

As and from this year, the MCUI will strictly enforce the rule that engine protection plates and or bars will have to be fitted to all race bikes.

They were supposed to have been fitted last year, but the new rule was unworkable, due to the fact that they were not commercially available for most of the older bikes.

Certain concerns were voiced at that some of the older bikes do not have these protectors fitted last year, but both the MCI and MCUI have said that the covers can be made from carbon fibre, aluminium or steel.

The idea is to reduce the risk or oil spillages in the case of a crash.

Just to clarify the point about the engine protectors and I quote -

To save anymore confusion, here again is the post from 5th February 2015 regarding the Technical Regulation on Secondary/Strengthened Engine Covers.

Please also note this DOES NOT apply to 2 Stroke machines nor does it include any machine which falls under the Standing Regulations for Pre 73 Classic machines.
