RE: TT Marshalls

We watched this evening's session at Windy Corner knowing we had to be there early before the road closed and that we'd have to wait for it to reopen. The sector deputy reminded me that they go off in convoy beforehand and I explained I knew to wait for the road open car. Then one of the female marshals said in a very loud voice that she expected us (2 cars of 3 spectators) to sneak out with them as 'they all do'.
I felt this judgement was very harsh and reflected the marshal's in a poor light. As such, we are unlikely to sign up as neither of us want to be part of a team that includes such a narrow- minded view.
It is a shame because we witnessed good team work by the marshals at Hillberry on Saturday.
I marshal at Windy corner and although I wasn't marshaling on Tuesday (only arrived on Weds morn of practice), let me elaborate over recent years we have usually left a marshal to guard the roads closed barrier after we head down with the convoy, thus one person giving even more of their own time to make sure others are safe.
Also I'd like to add there were no regular lady Windy Corner marshals covering Monday night so while this person may have uttered she expected the spectator cars to follow the convoy down, she was more than likely speaking from experience elsewhere on the mountain. As you note, we at Windy always make sure any visitors are aware of the convoy and then the additional wait for the roads open car, so they have the choice straight away to move on before the mountain closes.
Anyway thanks for jumping to conclusions, about all of us marshals at Windy corner.
Maybe you could try volunteering for more than two sessions and find out what its really like, but then again on second thoughts....
