Can anyone who has departed Heysham in the last couple of days give a heads up with regards to the stop/search/ ID issues from there. Would be good to have a bit of advice thank's.
I've taken a small stove loads of times in my panniers and never had an issue, think you have to disconnect it which mine does anyway. once took a calor cylinderi in my gas barbie (diconnected in the van), got searched and the dummy pointed at it and asked "whats that for?" then he 'found' my empty 5 litre petrol can and asked what that was for then started interrogating me as to whether I had any more empty cans 'hidden' (he'd already searched the van) - you would have thought he'd found some semtex. he got told what a dead he was in anglo saxon.
lets face it aslong as the scumbags are out there that think its ok to kill inocent people they dont even know
then i dont mind being searched if it stops another incident like we had last week

if youve got nothing to hide then extra few minutes wont hurt
ive been stopped a few time on arival at douglas always been plesant enough and after a few minutes been on my way
Nothing to hide at all and welcome any search in light of recent terrorist acts, got stopped and searched in 2015 at Heysham as you said very pleasant and took a couple of minutes just wanted to know if anything other than the normal search was happening. I only have my photo card licence as ID.

Thanks for the feedback, I was wondering what stage we were at, I'd heard that the soldiers had left Heysham & things were back to normal (ish!), but didn't know whether the port authorities were up to speed.
I got on the rock last night from Liverpool got stoped and surched in Liverpool check panniers and the like. Then when we got off the boat at Douglas my mate was stopped and breathalysed.
All done as nicely as possible iv got no problem with it. But don't get carried away on the boat and have a pint to many
I came back last night on the delayed 17.45 to Heysham ,it left at nine, and took a large rucksack as hand luggage, and got searched, the guy even looked at the contents of my wallet, which was seriously depleted of drink vouchers, coming over at Heysham I had a small bottle of wine confiscated, never once in the 2 searches was I asked for ID.
