Malcolm thank you so much for posting this lovely tribute to DJ. I will tell his sister to look on here.
Much appreciated.

One of my all time favourites, great rider and an all round good bloke with a personality as big as his talent.

One of my biggest regrets is that I never seen DJ race at the TT only on videos. I did see him race at Oulton Park in the BMW boxer Cup and he was so aggressive with the bike making it go where he wanted. Great rider to watch. Top man also. . Rip.

I was fortunate to watch DJ race many times and these are some of my most cherished biking memories - even the buzz in the crowd when you knew he was coming through on a hot lap - it was all special. I think its also worth remembering that he came along at a time when the TT was really struggling and his achievements injected a level of credibility to the event that for me was just as important as the wins. We have much to be grateful for.

RIP DJ

Always thought DJ was the heir apparent to Joey.  Their titanic battles in Ireland were some of the finest and most thrilling races I've ever had the good fortune to watch. Even the commentators were really hyped up.  So very sad when DJ went the way he did, and a big loss to the racing world,  his dad and uncle.

I agree with you clivem, in that DJ would've went on to be regarded as 'King of the Mountain', and surely would of been in the conversation as one of the true all-time great road racers. As race fans, I think we not only lost the great man himself 17 years ago, but also what could have been one of the greatest sporting rivalries ever. McPint's progression at the T.T in the mid 2000's would have been pushing DJ to raise the bar higher. I'm sure they would've remained best mates no matter how close they ran each other on the track, though I feel that had DJ been around, this truly could've have been a golden era, as Sam Pato mentions, DJ had already started.

I try not to have regrets, though having never seen DJ race in the flesh, I am envious of all who did. RIP DJ

I remember seeing him on the R1 in 98, he was tooting the horn at St Ninians as he went past.
One of my all time favourite riders. Top lad. RIP DJ.
