Dunlop tyres.
After the debacle of the final Superbike race at the NW 200 with the disintegration of its rear slicks, Dunlop has issued the following statement.

Quote: Dunlop,

“Following tyre conditions experienced by three Superbike riders on Dunlop KR108 slick rear race tyres at the North West 200, and understanding the importance of giving riders the confidence they need to perform on such a demanding high-speed road circuit, we have taken the decision to withdraw the KR108 slick rear tyre range from the 2022 Isle of Man TT Races and offer the D213 GP PRO treaded rear tyre range as an alternative option.”

RE: Dunlop tyres.
I can see most jumping ship and using other brands.

Irrelevant of contracts, Dunlop are breaching contract which (imo) frees up teams to use other tyre manufacturers.

Besides that, Davy Todds front treaded delaminated too, we all saw the pictures, which puts the bad batch rear slicks statement in doubt.

I'm no tyre expert, but I'd think a treaded tyre is not as competitive as a full blown slick.

If the Dunlop runners are forced to use the Dunlop treaded rear, then Mcguiness on metzelers could well bag the big bike races.... Wouldn't that be something

RE: Dunlop tyres.
I was thinking about slicks being the best tyres full stop, but don't the superstockers run treads?
Don't know if they're the same type as D213 GP PRO, but the lap times are pretty close to superbike.
Maybe a change in ambient temperature could cause bigger time differences than tyre choice!

RE: Dunlop tyres.
there is a lot of smaller teams or private runners allready use the superstock tyre
to good effect aswell
right conditions yes the top guys will go better on a good slick but dont think its gonna be massive time difference but might cost them a win against another running slicks

Connor Cummins pulled in soon after. I'm thinking he was flagged in by his pit board. How the feck can you race with that at the back of your mind. Todd was flying when he come past us. On line for a podium

RE: Dunlop tyres.
It was said in pits hickmans looked OK
Is it a compound issue or just poor quality controller at factory.  1 thing for sue it don't do the confidence much good id say
also they are racing on the roads a small sharp object or a few psi difference can make all the difference

It was interesting to hear Dunlops recommendation to have a minimum 22 psi in tyres after Davy Todd's tyre failed in the Superbike race. I had noticed on some photos of bikes rounding the Ramsey Hairpin how sqwished the rear tyres on some of the bikes looked. Just a thought, don't even know if they were Dunlop runners or not.

Deano also moved to Metzeler. Can't help thinking that when it's down to margins of a few seconds over a lap that this has to be holding him back a bit.
