RE: The Forum / The Future
Pleased to say the contact proved fruitful and helpful and I have heard from Malcolm's relatives.

I am given to understand that all is in hand thankfully.

I'll take a step back now!

The developer has removed the malware but you may see warnings until your cache clears, try pressing F5 to reload the page on a PC. Thanks go to him.

You may still get warnings that the site is not secure because it operates in plain text, Most sites now use encrypted transmission but it does not matter here in my view as no personal sensitive information should be displayed on a forum.

RE: The Forum / The Future
What such tragic news to learn. I never, like so many of us on here had the benefit to meet Malcolm in person but over the years we had shared many emails. He ran a superbly conducted website which did not attract any of the contributors that often graduate onto and debase motorcycle based websites for which we have Malcolm to be grateful. I suspect his gentlemanly policing.kept the standards high.
Like many others on here I do hope somebody maybe be able to take this project forward in Malcolm's memory.
RIP Malcolm

Format has changed for me, i don't see the borders or colours anymore, it's more like a document now.

I hope we're going to keep going

Yes I've lost the formatting as well.

They appear to be working on the forum, it has been upgraded to secure transmission of data (https instead of http). The domain has been renewed as well so I think the future is assured thanks.

RE: The Forum / The Future
All back to normal for me now, good !

In my opinion, we should try to ensure we use this forum more, keep posts and traffic up etc.

To ensure survival, a forum needs traffic, plenty of posts on the common interests.

I'm as guilty as anybody else though, I come on on th build up to the TT and fade into silence after the manx.

That's not good enough imo, we should keep up posts and threads. If the owners want a revenue through advertising then I'm fine with that.

I'd rather have a forum that contains advertising, lots of members, lots of posts, lots of threads than a quiet forum that fades into obscurity and eventually dies.

RE: The Forum / The Future
Just logged on to read the news on Malcolm. I've been on TT forums of one sort or another since the mid 90's and have enjoyed the camaraderie greatly. Malcolm made this happen for us to enjoy for many years and will be sadly missed.

Huge thanks to Chris for following up and stepping up to try and keep it afloat. Hopefully all is now in good hands.

RIP Malcolm - a friend I never met but a valued one all the same.

It looks as if the domain name has been renewed now, the expiry date is 2023.
Looking good so far!  ....I think!
Well done to Chris_Sav & anyone else involved.

So sad to hear about Malcolm passing. He did a great job with this site, putting in many hours hard work with information and keeping us all in order. He will be sorely missed by us all, but a big thank you to Chris and anybody else involved in keeping the Forum up and running.

Heartening news indeed that the Forum's future looks to be assured until, at least next year.

A plaque would be a fine idea (easy for me to say on the other side of the world) - happy to contribute if someone can make it happen.

RE: The Forum / The Future
A plaque would be a nice gesture and I too would be happy to contribute but, I think the finest gesture we could all make is the one that Chris_Sav is leading so well. That being the continuation of a wonderful website, a website that I'm certain Malcolm was proud of and that we 'regulars' all love.
