Phil Read
Phil Read, one of the all time great motorcycle racers, died today aged 83. Somewhat overshadowed by the incomparable Mike Hailwood he still won 7 world championships 8 TT's and 1 MGP and numerous short circuit races, all fantastic achievements. Often unpopular with staunch TT and MGP fans (like me) he was nevertheless a truly great champion.

RE: Phil Read
Well put.

Enjoyed a low profile return to race the Manx in his late 50's if I remember correctly.

A bit before my time but I still knew of him as a bit of a polarising figure.

RIP

R.I.P. Phil Read, as bsa499 says, one of the all time greats.

Second all of the the above, riders that can master the smaller machines always have a little more appreciation from me especially at TT, unpopular at TT with some would be one way of putting it but he still put it all on Glencrutchery Rd RIP......looking at the records Sam ^^^ it was 1998 Classic Senior

I saw him quite a few times in his day he was an incredible rider but his nemesis Hailwood quite often had the upper hand and he was a legend upset quite a lot of people but that was Phil Read .RIP Phil condolences to his family and friends.

RE: Phil Read
Sad news indeed.
Often controversial but still one of the greats.
RIP Phil.
