I originally ran a thread like this on the old iomtt.com so I thought I'd bring it back.  I'll update when I can.  The first shot is one where you can't see the face but hey....  The image is cropped heavily.

It was taken at the BHR meeting at Mallory with a recently acquired Nikon D500 with 70-200 af-s f/4.  I also got a 300mm f/4 PF but it's so light I'm going to have to re-learn technique.

I used to have a picture of Phil McCallen on the wall above my desk that I cut out of a Calendar with a clear view of his 'race face' - I think on the Blue Motorcycle City bike - maybe a proddie Blade. One of my favourites - adds a bit more humanity to the picture. Might do a bit of googling and see if its on the net somewhere.

Thanks Alfie.  It's a detail that you can't really see as a spectator at the time or even in the full photo.  Got a couple more - one needs no introduction and the other is the legend that was Ted Fenwick. He was 88 when I took that pic!

It's Cameron Donald (and friend) riding at the Hardi 24hr Endurance race. It's a 24Hr enduro style race for the clinically insane. He did it last year on a Tiger 900. Boy can ride a bit!

Just in case more proof was needed that TT competitors have something a bit different going on upstairs

Not 'race faces' as such, but are from the 1907 tribute lap around the St John's course.  Expressions range from the utterly joyous through mild indifference to completely outraged!  I'm fairly sure the guy waving is Mick Grant.
