I've just reviewed our 2023 MGP ferry booking as previously, since the actual ferry we were due to travel on was unclear ie Ben My Chree or Manxman, we were unable to book either seating or accommodation. As we're on an early boat to the Island we prefer to be comfortable, however his morning (21-07-23) I found we could without alter the booking without having to pay the amendment fee.

The Steampacket keeps it exciting until the end. It is still not certain whether the Manxman is in use for the MGP.

Passenger service will start 'in weeks'

They are selling reserved seating based on the Ben, so looks unlikely to me
