Byrne has won his court case against MSV claiming tyre barriers were the cause of his injuries and Air Fencing should have been in place, the judge agreed and awarded case to Byrne, assume this will be a costly settlement. Can see this might have repercussions regarding other race/road circuit events using straw bales etc. with insurance companies insisting on Air Fencing everywhere.
I would have thought so too but it were a track day, not a race event (I think). The requirements for race events are different to track days etc. Edit... I think it were a practice day, not a track day
The ramifications for track day events will be far more reaching. With (now) proven liability to the circuit/organisers, I can see a huge price hike to cover the insurance or the death knell of joe bloggs track days.

Proven liability of the circuit owners/organisers has been around for about 40 years (Sheene successfully sued Silverstone in the eighties)
That said, the insurers may well be demanding circuit safety improvements as well as increasing insurance premiums, this could have a significant affect on costs.....
We'll have to wait and see, but I would imagine all circuits will be looking to improve safety, which is obviously a good thing
