Geoff has a very extensive knowledge of all aspects of the TT Races and the wider motorcycling world, is an experienced broadcaster, and there is no sensible argument that says that the commentaries are better without him.

The people who manage Radio TT, who shall remain nameless here to protect the guilty,(who have been in their jobs for 5 minutes, are not Manx), and can have only a basic knowledge of the TT, wanted him out, for their own bizarre reasons, and cooked up this tale about his role as CPO and anchor man being incompatible.

We are all losers in this. Geoff has lost his job, the commentary is much poorer, (although I feel that Maurice Mawdsley is doing his best to hold it together and fill in for the inadequacies of the anchor man) and the Radio TT management will hopefully be held accountable at some point for their woeful judgement.

To be fair, Mr Lambert has shown himself to be a competent and highly professional broadcaster, who is doing his best, but in a very specialised job, he has not been 'on the pace' - he didn't realise John McGuinesss had set a new out right lap record on Saturday, until long after he'd read the time and speed out. Geoff (or for that matter Peter Kneale) would have seen that coming when he passed Cronk-ny-mona !!

Hopefully, between now and the MGP (and certainly before the 2005 TT) a few heads will be banged together, some humble pie will be devoured, and Geoff will be back in his rightful place.
