As you have mentioned under the Neil Hodgson story, Charlie, it is completely baffling that only one person has responded to your posting on the retirement of Alan Hope, the sector marshal.I saw the posting yesterday, but I haven't had time to make any comment until now.
We really cannot allow Alan to retire without more "posters" adding their threepennyworth.It is of course ridiculous that the ACU included the Quarter Bridge/Peel Road accident to be included in official statistics. Who needs enemies, when your own side takes you out in one easy swoop?
Before we know what, we really will have insufficient marshals to man(woman) the course. Can nothing be done to persuade Alan to change his mind?
It is however, understandable, in the light of recent events, that ordinary individuals, who give up their valuable time, look twice at what they are letting themselves in for. I'm sure a great deal of damage is being done currently, and we must act now before it's too late.
I'm not entirely convinced that my brother Tony is being helpful with his remarks on the DJ website, but they are HIS views, and given what his family have been through, it is perhaps understandable that his views differ to those of others.
Would someone from the Marshals Association like to come forward to present their side of the current issues, and perhaps give us some idea of the support they think they are likely to need this year?
