Those Avon racing tyres were fantastic - on my bantam you could scrub the very last rib, which looked, when the bike was stationary, as if it was right up next to the alloy rim......great in the wet and the dry. Took me (and most others) ages to get used to the Dunlop triangulars!
I shall now wait for some wet-behind-the-ears forum member to ask which were best - slicks, intermediates, cut slicks, full wets, qualifiers, radial/cross-ply hybrids, did you need to adjust the fork damper rebound, the pre-load, the......
Life sure was simpler then - you just got on and raced! Big Grin
