Eire or to give it it's modern name Republic of Ireland is most definately part of the British Isles.

Having said that The British Isles refers to a geographical entity not a country or political entity.

Up to 1921 Ireland as a complete island was part of Great Britian. In 1921 there was partition and Northern Ireland came into exsistance as did Eire.
