For years we have raced motorcycles according to calculated capacity. Why do Ducati want to make their own rules?

Historically the major changes in racing were caused by the Eastern invasion where 350 and indeed 250 machines were proving too good for the established 500 machines and classes were then modified 251 - 350, 351 - 500 to allow owners of the rather less technically advanced machines mostly single cylinders to compete. In previous years to the change-over the owner of a good 350 Norton could compete in both the 350 and 500 class and then the rules were changed as above.

I believe that these changes were introduced for the benefit of the riders, whereas Ducati want the change to suit them, if they want to compete prepare a machine to the class specifications.
