John Williams closed the Isle of Man TT grand prix era in 1976 with a new absolute lap record in the Senior race with a 500cc. And he really deserved to win. I've never seen a shot of him during that race and I'd love to see it.

he deserved to win but he didn't because he ran out of fuel, pushing in from Governor's bridge and finally finishing 7th. I still recall his exhaustion and frustration at the Villa Marina prizegiving that evening.... another remarkable ride was the Senior TT in 72, where he was 2nd on his Arter Matchless after passing Alberto Pagani on the MV at the Bungalow, finally dropping out though with a empty tank...btw, there is a beautiful shot of his '76 ride in Nick Harris TT book
