Anyway, I have to correct my first post, since John didn't run out of fuel, trustable sources tell that the engine cut off at Governor's because he had gearbox trouble as well as clutch failure..
Refering to the '72 TT, Alberto Pagani (and Ago) were probably not taking risks, since Gilberto Parlotti crashed only a couple of hours before that very race. Anyhow, John's ride aboard the Matchless was brilliant, in '72 already a lot of 2-strokes were around.....
