Bike racing's governing body, the FIM, has confirmed that MotoGP will run 1000cc four-cylinder engines for the 2012 season, following a meeting in Switzerland.

The Grand Prix Commission, which includes Dorna boss Carmelo Ezpeleta, Claude Danis, Tech3 boss Herve Poncharal and race director Paul Butler, ratified the rule change which could put it in direct competition with World Superbikes.
