Team Agni, the winners of the inaugural clean emissions race on the Isle of Man in 2009, have confirmed that they will be returning to the Island in June 2010 to compete in the TT Zero Race.

The team, based in Finchley in North London, will be running two bikes this year with defending champion Rob Barber and fastest female around the Mountain Course Jenny Tinmouth competing in the Agni colours.

Rob Barber and Team Agni won the 2009 race with an average lap speed of 87.434mph for the 37 3/4 mile course and the team will be looking to be the first to record the prestigious 100mph average mark for an electric bike and claim the £10,000 prize that has been offered by the Isle of Man Government.

Team Agni Manager Arvind Rabadia commented:

“We are really fortunate to have two such talented riders with proven track records around the Mountain Course. I’m sure that they will not only challenge other teams but will also prove very competitive against each other.”

He also looked forward to returning to the Isle of Man and defending their crown;

“The whole team is looking forward to racing in the 2010 TT Zero as it gives us a great chance to showcase the technological developments we have made since last year. The challenging race conditions that the Isle of Man TT offers are a great way for Agni to demonstrate our prowess in this exciting field.”

Hon Martyn Quayle, MHK, Minister for Tourism and Leisure, Isle of Man Government, commented:

“We are delighted to welcome back Team Agni who made such a significant impact at the historic, inaugural 2009 TT clean emissions Race. Many people on the Isle of Man are looking forward to seeing the advances that they have made since last year and to seeing whether they can repeat last year’s success.”
Be right back. I am going to go find myself, and if I leave before I get back, make sure to tell me !! -
