Top British Championship bike racer Dennis Hobbs will be swapping two wheels for four when he takes to the wheel of one of the cars in the Scottish Mini Cooper Championship at Knockhill over the weekend of Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th May.

Originally from the North East of England but now residing at Kelty in Fife, the former British Superbike rider, who now races in the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship for the Relentless by TAS Suzuki team, will be using the guest car over the weekend as he makes his car racing debut.

"I am really excited about racing the Mini at Knockhill, I have never raced a car before and I've always wanted to swap two wheels for four. I've done hundreds of laps around Knockhill on a racing bike but the car will be a totally different ball game," said Hobbs.

The car is the same one to be used by celebrity chef Nick Nairn as well as Boyzone singer Shane Lynch amongst others during the season at the track just north of Dunfermline and Hobbs' outing will be as part of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship meeting that weekend.

The Avon Tyres British GT Championship is one of the most prestigious race series to come to Scotland this year and a chance for fans to see top of the range GT3 Supercars, including Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Lotus, and new for 2010, the spectacular Audi R8.

Supporting the GTs is one of the best line ups ever with the full selection of action-packed Scottish Championship classes, including Legends, Sports and Saloons, Mini Coopers and XR2s as well as the ultra competitive field full of British Formula Fords.

Later this season, the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship visits Knockhill over the weekend of 3/4 July, whereby Hobbs will be in action again, and luxury hospitality facilities are available overlooking the hairpin.
