The ISB event organiser wishes to express sincere condolences to the family and friends of Sam Martin, who tragically lost his life whilst competing at the Irish Superbike Championship races at Kirkistown on Saturday 1st May 2010. The event was promoted by Ulster Centre Sports Promotions Ltd.

The accident happened on the opening lap of the the second Open Clubman's race. Entering the hairpin, the slowest corner on the circuit, Sam Martin and another rider touched and both riders crashed out at a relatively low speed. The other rider was treated for a suspected broken wrist. Sam Martin had finished ninth in the first Open Clubman's race held earlier in the day.

The event incident officer together with the PSNI will carry out an investigation into the accident.
