Record Breaking Bush for Dunlop
Meeting Report
Race 1 - Horta Soils/CRL 650cc Super twins Race
The Horta Soils/CRL was this year’s sponsor of the ever exciting Super twin’s race. CRL is one of the largest commercial landscaping and recreational grounds contractors in Ireland with specialist knowledge and expertise in creating a wide range of pitches and surfaces for a variety of landscaping for a variety of locations and venues. They are located at 54 Derrycoose Road, Annaghmore. Horta Soils are based at 4 Carn Court Road, Portadown and have over 15 years experience and expertise in ground maintenance programmes. CRL are also sponsors of local rider Ryan Farquhar.
The was the first race of the day with the John Burrows taking Honours’ with Czech Republic rider Michal Dokoupil in second and Derek Shiels completing the top three, Local man Burrows also set a new lap record for the class of 83.55 mph.
Race 2 - Clinton Enterprises 250cc - 350cc Classic Race
The Clinton Enterprises 250cc - 350 cc Junior Classic Race was sponsored this year by Clinton Enterprises, official licensed motorcycle merchandise suppliers. Clinton's stand will be in the paddock this year supplying not only Bush Road Race merchandise but also clothing from Suzuki GSXR, Yamaha, HM plant Honda, MSS Kawasaki and Relentless Suzuki. Clinton Enterprises stands are a common site at Motorcycle racing events all over the UK and Ireland.
Newcastle rider Thomas Hogg just beat Scottish visitor Mark McGaw by 0.73 seconds with Tim Stephenson from Huddersfield in third, in the 350 class while Barry Davidson took the honours in the 250 category.
Race 3 - Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council Super sport Race
The Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council Super sport race is part of both the Ulster and Irish Road Race Championships. The Dungannon and District Motorcycle Club are delighted to be associated with the local Council who have been of great assistance in getting the Bush Road Races off the ground and helping not only financially, but also with the support of local Councillors and Council staff.
Ballymoney’s William Dunlop led from start to finish onboard the CD Racing R6 to win by over 15.38 second’s from Michael Pearson who overhauled John Burrows on the final lap. Dunlop set a new lap record of 88.23 mph
Race 4 - McNultys of Enniskillen/CR Print 201cc – 400cc Junior Support Race
The McNultys of Enniskillen/CR Print 201 cc - 400cc Junior Support Race is part of the Loanends M.R.R.Club Support Series 2009 and a round of the Daingean Supporters Club Championship Series. McNultys of Enniskillen are a new race sponsor for 2010 who are a franchised dealer for Suzuki motorcycles and they also carry a large range of motorcycle clothing, accessories and helmets. CR Print are also a new race sponsor for 2010. Based at their newly built premises at Stangmore Park, Dungannon they offer a wide range of printing, stationary, posters, banners and other printing services. CR Print are also the printer for our 2010 Race Programme
Jonathan Mark won his first National road race after a race long battle with Craig Shirlaw and local boy Darren Hughes. Shirlaw from Scotland retired on lap six of eight and Hughes closed right in on Mark and at the chequered flag Mark held on to win by 0.31 seconds, and the Ballymena lad set a new lap record of 80.93 mph.
Race 5 - H2 Engineering Bush Open Superbike Race
The H2 Engineering Bush Open Championship is the Senior Open Race and was open to machines up to 1000cc. This race was part of the Ulster and Irish Road Race Championship. This year we were delighted to have H2 Engineering as our main sponsor for the event and to our main race.
Michael Pearson led for the first four laps from Davy Morgan, William Dunlop and John Burrows. At the end of lap five Morgan held a slender lead over the chasing trio. As the race reached its climax it was Morgan (1000 GSXR) who crossed the line first just holding off William Dunlop (600). Burrows took the last rostrum place as early leader Pearson was relegated to fourth. Fastest lap William Dunlop 89.75 mph.
Race 6 - Derry Morgan Transport 401cc – 750cc Senior Support Race
The Derry Morgan Transport 401cc – 750cc Senior Support Race is part of the Daingean Motorcycle Supporters Club Irish Support Championship. We were delighted to welcome Derry Morgan Transport as a new sponsor to the event. Derry Morgan Transport operates from 2 locations, one at Moy in Co. Armagh and a second site located at Larne Docks. Derry Morgan Transport offer a range of transportation solutions including Refrigeration transport complete with temperature and vehicle tracking, Heavy haulage and Wide Loads, Warehousing, Vehicle Maintenance etc.
Stephen Larkin from Gilford was start to finish winner over Sean Anderson from Banbridge, with Scottish visitor Shirlaw a distant third. Shirlaw set a new lap record on his last lap of 84.75 mph.
Race 7 - Cohannon Inn & Auto Lodge Grand Final Race
The Cohannon Inn and Auto Lodge Grand Final was open to motorcycles up to 1000cc and was always one of the most exciting and hotly contested races. The Cohannon Inn and Auto Lodge are a long term sponsor of the Bush Road Races and operate a restaurant with an extensive menu, a 42-bedroom (ensuite) Motel, and extensive Function rooms suitable for conferences and meetings, a Spar shop, a Post Office, an Auto bank and a Wine Store. Their premises are situated at 212 Ballynakelly Road, Dungannon, just off the M1 motorway.
Pearson was the early leader from William Dunlop and John Burrows, at the halfway mark Burrows hit the front closely followed by Dunlop with Pearson dropping of the pace in third. Starting the last lap Burrows had 0.3 second’s to spare over Dunlop but the Ballymoney lad made his move on final circuit to win by 2.74 seconds and took the Bush Circuit lap record to 90.44 mph.
Race 8 - Grab A Cab 250cc/400cc Super sport Junior Race
The Grab A Cab Junior 250cc/400cc Super sport Race is part of the 2 Stroke Racing Championship and welcomed local taxi firm Grab A Cab as this years sponsor for this race. Grab A Cab operate a successful taxi service from their base at 40 West Street, Portadown offering a 24/7 taxi service which offer school runs, airport runs and party buses that are available for hire at competitive rates.
William Dunlop continued his winning ways to take victory number three of the day from Annaghmore teenager Wayne Hamilton both on D&GW Racing 250 Honda’s. Davy Morgan snatched third place in closing stages from Daley Mathison who overshot at Drumkee Crossroad’s. Dunlop set yet another new lap record at 86.11 mph.
Race 9 - H2 Engineering/ Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council 351cc – 1000cc Senior Classic Race
The 351cc – 1000cc Senior Classic Race was jointly sponsored by our biggest contributors H2 Engineering and Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council.
Ballygawley’s Robert McCrum riding a 950 Weslake beat local rider Neil McWhirter (500 Manx Norton) by 2.13 seconds. McWhirter also set a new lap record of 78.57mph as Alan Brew from the Isle of Man was a distant third.
Race 10 - Gerard McHugh & Sons Crane Hire 125cc GP/Hot Stuff Outside Catering Moto 450cc Race
The Gerard McHugh and Son Crane Hire 125cc GP Race is open to all 125cc Grand Prix machines. Gerard McHugh has been supporting the Bush Road Races since 2005 and lives locally in Dungannon. His Crane Hire business is well established and works all over the country. A keen motorcycle road race fan we are delighted to welcome him back as a race sponsor in 2010. This race is part of the 2 Stroke Racing Championships. Hot Stuff Outside Catering is sponsors of the Moto 450cc Race which is run concurrently with the 125cc GP machines. Hot Stuff outside Catering operates at Granville Industrial Estate just outside Dungannon on a daily basis serving hot food all day. Hot Stuff Outside Catering is also a sponsor of local rider and club Chairman Colin McWhirter.
Nigel Moore was the early leader from Paul Robinson, Neil McWhirter and William Dunlop. On Lap three Dunlop took the lead from Moore and Paul Robinson. Dunlop went on to complete his fourth victory of the 2010 H2 Engineering Bush Road Races and set another new lap record of 83.01 mph. Paul Robinson ran wide at the last corner and Nigel Moore took advantage of Robinson’s error and claimed second place.
