The organisers of the Steam Packet Southern 100 International Road Races are delighted to announce that the 2009 Southern 100 Solo Champion, Guy Martin will be attending ‘the friendly races’ on Championship Day, Thursday 15th July.

Guy had to withdraw from this year’s races on medical advice despite all his efforts to be fit for the event and was bitterly disappointed not to be able to defend his Solo Championship title.

The Southern 100 are deeply indebted to the Steam Packet Company in arranging return travel for Guy, to enable him to be present for the main races of the Championship meeting.

Club President, Derek Nicholson said:

‘Whilst we would have preferred to have seen Guy defending his Solo Championship title, it is equally pleasing that he is able to be here at Billown to enjoy the atmosphere and excitement, and I’m sure he will receive a tremendous welcome from all the fans and enthusiasts around the course during his time in Castletown.’

‘We wish Guy a rapid recovery to full fitness and look forward to welcoming him back to the Steam Packet International Southern 100 Road Races in 2011.’
