MARTIN TAKES MAIDEN VICTORY FOR RELENTLESS SUZUKI AT SOUTHERN
A subdued Guy Martin took his debut victory in Relentless Suzuki by TAS Racing colours earlier tonight, in the Senior Race at the Southern 100 meeting on the Isle of Man.
The Lincolnshire man has never hidden the fact that the Southern 100 is his favourite meeting of the year, so its a fitting reward for both his and the TAS Racing teams efforts so far this season, to take win number one on the Island.
Guy Martin
Im not a man who is ever happy with second place. No one remembers the losers so tonights job was what we have been looking for. I got a good start and lead on every lap but Michael was close enough at the finish. The one that matters is tomorrow: the Solo Championship. Tonight we just cleaned the flies off the big GSX-R and tipped some fuel into it. Its a pity about the 600 race getting stopped but well get another go at it tomorrow. Yeah the jobs a good un.
Philip Neill Team Manager
We saw the potential with Guy on GSX-R machinery straight away and his consistent results have confirmed how well he is gelling with the bikes and the team. Its fantastic to see him secure his first win for TAS Racing. The Southern is a great event and a bit of a wind-down opportunity for us without any particular pressure. We know how much Guy loves competing there and were pleased to be able to support the event and will do whenever possible in the future. Lets hope we can continue this run of success with Guy tomorrow and indeed for the rest of the season.
