The ferry company revealed £6,389.87 was collected by crew from the Ben-my-Chree and Manannan. It is believed to be the highest total raised during the many years the collection has taken place for the Helicopter Fund.

MGP Supporters’ Club Chairman Bob Taylor said:

“The MGP Helicopter Fund relies totally on donations and we are extremely grateful to the crews of both vessels for organising the collection – and, of course, to the travelling public for their incredible generosity.”

Steam Packet Company Sales Development Manager Brian Convery added:

“The staff always look forward to helping with the collections and even in periods of financial hardship the travelling public have been fantastic in helping to raise a record amount.”
