William Dunlop is set to ride the Milwaukee Yamaha YZF-R1 Superbike at the Walderstown road races in Co Westmeath this weekend.
Dunlop will give the ex-World Superbike machine its Irish national roads debut at the 40th anniversary ‘Race of South’, which gets under way on Saturday with practice taking place from 12.30pm.
The Northern Ireland rider will also compete on Chris Dowd’s Yamaha R6.
Dunlop hasn’t ridden the Milwaukee Superbike since the Isle of Man TT, when he set his first 130mph lap in the blue riband Senior race.
Shaun Muir’s team opted to skip the Southern 100 on the Isle of Man, with Manx rider Conor Cummins missing out on his home event.
However, Cummins and Dunlop will both compete at the Armoy ‘Race of Legends’ later in July as they warm up for the Metzeler Ulster Grand Prix at Dundrod.
Michael Dunlop, who won two Superbike races at the Southern 100 but was denied a third straight Solo Championship win by Tyco Suzuki’s Guy Martin, is also among the entries.
