RE: Youngest and Oldest riders
Albert Moule the Gentleman Racer from pre war days with the Dudley Grammar School Helmet, there lies a man of mistery, Albert along with Pat Walsh helped me get started racing back in the early 60s.
I was at his bungalow many years later just before he was due to lose his licence at the 55 age limit. He kept a 6 speed CR93 in his bedroom, I picked up a framed photograph, it was very young Albert, somewhere on the North West Frontier, mounted on horseback in officers dress with the white police type helmet , with a troop of turbaned lancers. Without question a late 19th century photo, Definitely last of the Bengal Lancers stuff, his true aged when he retired? you would never know a very fit man, no smoking, drinking or women in his life, Bob Heath called him Holy Moly. He marshalled for a long time after with his mate JacK Harding and went on to work for Len Vale-Onslow on the Stratford Road Birmingham almost until he died.
Great man and a privilege to be his friend.
