RE: TYCO BMW announcement on William Dunlop
William Dunlop has been ruled out of the remainder of the Isle of Man TT following a crash at Laurel Bank on the Tyco BMW during a practice lap.
Dunlop, who finished fifth in Sunday’s RST Superbike race, came off during Monday’s one-lap practice run on the Superstock machine.
The 29-year-old was taken to Noble’s Hospital with suspected chest injuries but a statement from the Northern Ireland team issued via Twitter in the afternoon said Dunlop didn’t sustain any broken bones after being checked over.
The statement added: “He’s a little bit banged up and we are hopeful he can race later in the week.”
However, it is understood that Dunlop’s 2015 TT is over, with his Tyco BMW team-mate Guy Martin taking over his ride on the Victory machine in Wednesday’s TT Zero race.
Dunlop suffered a broken leg after crashing in last year’s Senior TT race at Graham Memorial while battling for a podium place.
On Sunday, Michael Dunlop crashed on the final lap of the Superbike race, injuring his hip after tangling with a slower rider at the Nook.
The 11-times TT winner came across the scene of William’s crash and is reported to have stopped to check on his brother before completing his lap.
Mar-Train Racing’s Dean Harrison was reported to have come off during the practice lap at Crosby crossroads, but his Lisburn-based team later confirmed the Bradford lad had only stopped on his Yamaha R1 and was ‘perfectly okay’.
