Very sad. Another stalwart lost. Bob was an excellent rider, finishing on the rostrum at the Manx in the late 50s.
He was also an astute businessman. Taking the back road to Hillberry from Onchan, you would go past "Dowty Engineering".
He was a very close friend of Ken Harding, Past MMCC President, and Scrutineer. I think they played Bridge together.
I would describe Bob as a Gentle Giant, and a real Gentleman of the old school. A lovely man, softly spoken, kind and considerate, and I am very sad to hear of his passing.
