CLASSIC TT ORGANISERS INVITE PRESTIGIOUS CARS AND BIKES TO PARTICIPATE IN CLASSIC TT CONCOURS D'ELEGANCE

Classic TT organisers are inviting prestigious car and bike owners to display their machines in the 2015 Classic TT Concours d'Elegance, which is taking place on Friday 28th August as part of this year's Classic TT Paddock Carnival, at the TT Grandstand.

The Concours d'Elegance concept can be traced back to 17th century French aristocracy who paraded horse drawn carriages in the parks of Paris during Summer Weekends and holidays. Over time, carriages became horseless and the gatherings became a competition among automobile owners to be judged on the appearance of their automobiles.

Twenty-three time TT Race winner John McGuinness, Mortons Media publisher Malcolm Wheeler, Mylchreest Motors's Managing Director David Mylchreest and David Cretney, MLC will judge the competition and criteria will include machines that are either as close as possible to 'mint' condition or those that have been restored accurately to reflect their original design when they left the production line.

The Concours D'Elegance will take place between 1pm and 3pm in Nobles Park and individual owners and car and bike clubs are invited to assemble shortly before 1pm to display their vehicles.

Judging will take place at 3pm and the winner will be announced shortly after.  There will be a trophy for the winning car and bike as well as a pair of tickets to VIP hospitality.

The Concours d'Elegance is part of a busy programme of events and activities at the free to attend Classic TT Paddock Carnival on Friday 28th, when the clock will be turned back to the 1950's with live music from popular London based rock and roll band the Blue Jays as well as chat shows with leading riders past and present.

David Cretney, the Minister for Fun, believes that the event

"The Concours d'Elegance will really add something special to Friday's paddock carnival and I hope that as many car and bike owners as possible get into the spirit and come down to be part of the fun."
