ILR - Connall Courtney in action at Oulton Park.

It was a tough weekend for Connall Courtney in the second round of the British Motostar (Standard Class) Championship at Oulton Park over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

As in the previous round at Silverstone, the weather had a big say in proceedings with practice and qualifying badly affected in particular.

Saturday morning's Free Practice was held in wet conditions with Courtney managing to put eight laps in. The drier second session later in the afternoon saw Connall move up the order but just outside the qualifying time for the race.

Unfortunately the rain returned for Sunday's First Qualifying leaving a frustrated Courtney unable to get to grips with the Oulton Park circuit and with only one session left to make any real impression. Thankfully drier conditions prevailed for the final qualifying session with Connall dipping under two minutes for the lap to qualify for the race.

However from the tenth row on the grid, the young Warrenpoint rider had it all to do and this proved to be the case as he struggled to find any real momentum in the race. He did however pick up another five championship points for his efforts.

The next round is at Brands Hatch in two weeks time.

Connall Courtney:

"The Oulton Park circuit was amazing. Unfortunately the weather didn't help me with learning the track as there was plenty of rain all weekend, but I was improving every session and getting more comfortable with the bike and the track.

Continuing to close the gap to the next group, and continuing to move forward, so all is good.

Big thanks to the team for all their efforts."
