Michael Dunlop and Dean Harrison are revved up to go for Gold
Michael Dunlop goes head-to-head with Dean Harrison
at the Steve Henshaw International Scarborough Gold Cup Races on Sunday
Michael Dunlop and Dean Harrison will go head-to-head on Sunday at the Steve Henshaw International Scarborough Gold Cup Races, with Isle of Man TT legend John McGuinness also on the entry list.
Fermanagh's Lee Johnston, who suffered a broken collarbone at the Ulster Grand Prix, is a non-starter, but one man who will be a threat to reigning champion Harrison for the main Gold Cup prize will be Bardney resident Ivan Lintin on the RC Express Kawasaki.
Harrison took his first Gold Cup victory last season on the Mar-Train Racing Yamaha, but this season returns with the Silicone Engineering team on Kawasaki machinery. He will be a strong favourite having dominated proceedings at Oliver's Mount in the past, but 2013 winner Dunlop will give him a stern test, despite it not being one of his stronger circuits.
Lisburn-based Mar-Train Racing are also making a return to the paddock this year, and although they don't get to defend their crown, they will be hoping Manxman Dan Kneen can at least be in podium contention over the two-day meeting.
William Dunlop is also on the entry list but the Ballymoney rider, who recently became a father, is opting only to ride a 125cc machine.
Dubliner Derek Sheils is also making the trip.
Up-and-coming rider Daley Mathison will make his debut on the Motodex Performance BMW.
The event gets under way with a 10-race programme on Saturday from 2pm after a Parade of Stars lap.
The second leg of most races will be held on Sunday, with another 10 races scheduled from 10.35am.
