Manx Radio has broadcast live commentaries on the Isle of Man Steam Packet Southern 100 International Road Races since 1964 along with the Blackford’s Pre-TT Classic Road Races in 1988 and the Post TT Road Races in 1991, becoming the ‘official broadcast partners’ in 2014, the year the Nation’s Station celebrated its 50th Anniversary and continues in that role and holds a recently signed contract for the next six (6) years up to and including 2024.

The first commentary in 1964 was hosted by Jack Quayle and was followed by Peter Kneale, then Maurice Mawdsley and now Tim Glover sits in the ‘hot-seat’ at the Start – Finish on Castletown By-Pass, which has been regularly described as the best commentary point in road racing.

Tim is now ably assisted by Roy Moore at Cross Four Ways and Chris Kinley in the Holding & Podium Area where he manages to obtain the winners immediate reaction as they await to collect their laurel wreaths and sparkling bubbly!
