No points today as the rider should be easy but can anyone tell me the correct name for this corner and the left hander that follows it? I genuinely don't know!
I always thought it was waterworks 1 and 2 then the Gosseneck. But having a look on the Web it says tower bends is between waterworks and the Gosseneck. And thinking back I'm sure I've heard it on the commentary.
This is what iv found on the Web.
Tower Bends 25 miles Possibly originally Tar Bend or Bends, or Tower Farm Bend or Bends. Named after the Albert Tower (or Memorial) on the right which stands above the bends. Below the tower is a left-hander followed by a slight left-hander. The tower was built to commemorate the visit to Ramsey of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert on September the 20th 1847. Albert Tower is about half a mile along the track on the inside of the course from Tower Bends. Tower bends after the Albert Tower is a right-left.
If that helps?
Tower Bends is the right / left after exit of Waterworks then circuit runs up to the right(in pic) then left before throwing the anchor out for Gooseneck .. I can't recall ever being told a name for corners or section, Silja's blog thing doesn't have any other info apart from mention of 25th mile marker.
I'm familiar with Tower bends as the section of the course between Waterworks and the Gooseneck but obviously from my initial reply I can't place the photograph.
Handleys........what was I thinking? (in my defence I was doing it from my phone straight out of bed to try and get in first).......will be wearing the hessian shirt all day today in penance.
