Does anyone know which two riders are depicted on the IOM 1997 50p coin? And is it in fact the 1997 TT, or a previous year's race, that's shown?

Of course it doesn't really matter. But I'm so bored it counts as interesting... Mind you I'm not bored enough to post responses like yours to questions I don't know the answers to! ;o)

I think they are pretty stylised riders anyway...hard to tell them apart! Spend it on something when you are at the TT!(but not a drink for Devlin..he has expensive tastes!!)

There's loads of these for sale on e-bay some sellers even try to claim they are rare.
The 1997 50p has Philip McCallen I think

The two riders are Phil Macallen and Nigel Davies and are stylised as been suggested. Well does it really matter, last years 50p coin issued of the Senior Trophy had the staff missing from the left hand and nobody seemed to notice if you are looking for rare 50 coins. The Government might get something right sometime.
