Apparently there will be not one but two TT films being made over the next few months.
!/ The real Hailwood Story with actors and not Duke Videos
2/ A film about an Americans attempt at the TT..
(This second one was originally to be a story about Joey Dunlop but someone saw there would be a Hailwood film so the "star" has been americanised.
As a long time fan of the TT, I am one who hopes that these films will stay within the boundaries of good taste..
Who will oversee the sensibility, accuracy and check the scripts ????
There is always a tendancy to digitalise crashem and bashem sequences in films these days and it can do more to destroy the sport than make it something to interest people.
Only an observation and I would like to be first in the queue to see Mikes life story if it stays on truthful, sensible lines....... ........
...but whose truth is it likely to be with all the legal action that has been taken to tie up Mike's name, "Mike the Bike", "For the Love of the Sport", "Ecurie Sportif" all trade marks that have to be paid for.
Quite frankly I shudder before I see these films.
Let's hope I am wrong.
If they made a straight out full length documentary on the TT in wide screen or even better IMAX, it would blow everyone away.
But you can be sure there will have to be a "story", a handsome actor and plenty of throw away lines.
And somewhere in it someone will say "Let's get outa here".
