Parish walk
Been following this amazing event on Manx Radio...85 miles walking non-stop. The reports are interspersed with other items, including a golf tournament with the well known TT commentator, Roy Moore and he has been mentioning the excellent performance of a Kevin Murphy (is there no limit to Ago's talents.....) and a competitor called McMullen...he made a mistake once and called him Geoff McMullen!
Gail and David are the support team for one of the leading Parish Walk competitors...they have to keep going all day and into the night too. It started at 8am, and the first finishers will complete their walk about 11pm!

It was the most amazing race. I had Manx Radio on all day and evening, right up until Sean Hands finished. Manx athletic history was made.

David Cretney did really well, finishing 49th, in just over 20 hours...there were about 1500 starters!

Fortunatley there are a few Colin Moore's on the island ! So this wasn't
'our' FCM !

What a day unbelievable ! Unfortunately our man was a top four starter
but he was going for a win and to break the record but it was not to be and he decided it wasn't going to be  but he started very slowly
then built up Because of his very very busy training over the last
two years in his effort to qualify for the Commonwealth Games and missing it by a couple of minutes he was therefore getting very tired and woren out. He knew at Peel with some 14 minutes to make up it was
going to be hard all the way so called it a day. And was glad it was all
over because he needs a badly earned rest for at least two months
and plenty of red wine Lol Lol Lol I gave him his first glass after a
good hour on retiring so here's to a few more Peter - GOOD EFFORT !

And we then stayed at Peel with Peter for a while to see many carry on and some retiring at Peel. We then followed our friend Sean and gave
Sean and his family support to the end, what a crowd and the cheers
camera and tv, it was an unbelieveable sight, never have I witnessed in
racing for many years ! And also the former Parish Walk record holder
at over 70 years old still out there walking for another walk after many years but sadly didn't make it to the finish but what a grand effort to the man raising money for the blind. The other top walker, the winner for
last two years and one who got so close to the record breaking time was also inside the record that stood for 27 years ! Well Done Robbie !
Our other top four favourite was Iom Commonwealth walker Steve Partington who had first attempt at competing the 85 miles finished a brilliant 11th place and a potential future winner now he has retired from
the Commonwealth Games after competinf at 6 games !
Another brilliant effort to be mentioned came from Sue Biggart a nurse
in the childrens ward at nobles to finish 4th with a VERY close record breaking time for the ladies which has stood for many years, missed by less than some 4 minutes ! There was also another nurse I work with who
finished for a third time and breaking her own fastest effort by some three hours !
One of our former Manx GP riders had another excellent walk recording another PB over 30 minutes........TONY DUNCAN.

SEE WWW://MANXATHLETICS.COM OR WWW://PARISHWALK.COM

PHEW didn't get in til 330am and not long up ! WELL I did get up to look
at 9am to see a record number of finishers ! OVER 160. ANd they
say bikers racing are crazy ??
